Join local South African Bikers on the tour of a lifetime to Lesotho, The Kingdom in the Sky! We call Lesotho “The alps of Africa” – ride beautiful steep, twisting mountain passes with very little traffic. Riding here is like stepping back into time. The Basotho people live in small villages in the mountains. You will see Lesotho Cowboys galloping through the fields and shepherds with their donkeys and sheep plowing the land. Did we mention the riding? This is an ADVENTURE RIDERS Dream, the best mixture of Tar and Gravel that you will ever ride!

Day 1: Pretoria to Clarens (350km)

This morning we will have a quick pre-tour briefing and hand over the motorcycles before we leave for Clarens in the Eastern Free State. It is a nice relaxing ride along the back roads to help you get used to your new motorcycle. In the afternoon we will arrive in Clarens, an artists paradise surrounded by Golden Sandstone Cliffs. There will be an optional ride into the breathtaking Golden Gate National park to see more beautiful sandstone formationS as well as Zebra, Antelope and baboons. This evening we take a stroll through Clarens Town enjoying drinks at the local brewery followed by a meal at one of Clarens best restaurants.

Day 2: Clarens to Afriski (126km)

You have the morning free to relax and explore more of Clarens before we meet the rest of the “Local Bikers” for our tour into Lesotho. Leaving Clarens at Midday we make our way into Lesotho. Lesotho is known as the Alps of Africa and today you will see why. Enjoy alpine style mountain roads that take us high into sky. Our home for the next 2 Nights is at Lesotho’s Premiere Ski lodge- Afriski. In winter the slopes here are painted white with Snow, but in Summer this is an Adventure riders playground. Tonight, we enjoy dinner in the Sky restaurant, around a cozy fire. (B,D)

 Day 3: Afriski to Sani Pass (270km)

Today is all about Amazing Mountain Passes- all at High Altitude. A major Highlight is riding Black mountain Pass -a tar pass that is the 2nd Highest Pass in Lesotho. Enjoy over 139 bends in 32km as we make our way to Sani Top- The highest pub in Africa. Here we enjoy Lunch and a cool drink  with spectacular views down over Sani Pass leading into South Africa. Sani Pass is South Africa’s most infamous gravel mountain pass. It is steep, there are loose rocks, step ups and tight bends, all making it bucket list stuff for Adventure riders the world over. For those that are advanced riders there will be an optional ride down Sani Pass and up again. The rest of us will enjoy a delicious meal and some great riding again on our way back to Afriski (B,D)

Day 4: Afrski- Katse Dam- Thaba Tseka (200km)

Riding in Lesotho is like stepping back in time. Today we explore amazing gravel roads that take us deep into the heart of Lesotho, through small african villages. You will see Lesotho Cow boys on their mountain Ponies, Ladies going down to the river to collect water in buckets on their head and children playing in the fields. We will enjoy a picnic Lunch overlooking the breathtaking Katse Dam before enjoying another gravel road taking us to the town of Thaba Tseka, our home for the night. (B,D)

Day 5: Thaba Tseka to Semonkong (231km)

Today we continue further into Lesotho. We enjoy more amazing mountain passes as we make our way to Semonkong- the most famous being "God save me pass". Our lodge is situated right on the Maletsunyane River overlooking the bridge that leads to the Village. It is a hive of activity hiding away in the Maluti Mountains. Here we sleep in Traditional Sotho Huts with a luxurious twist. This afternoon their will be free time to visit the Semonkong waterfall, enjoy a donkey pub crawl (weather dependent) or embark on a blanket tour to learn more about Sotho Culture.  Tonight we enjoy a delicious meal and cold Maluti beer in the famous Duck and Donkey Tavern (B, L, D)

Day 6: Semonkong  to Malealea Lodge(281km)

Today we enjoy even more great riding as we make our way over the Mohales Neck pass to Malealea Lodge. This lodge is famous for Horse Trekking, hiking and mountain biking. Enjoy peace and tranquility, nestled in the Makhomalong Valley and surrounded by the beautiful Maloti Mountains. Tonight we enjoy another great 3 Course meal and if we are lucky, some local entertainment too (B,L,D)

Day 7: Malealea to Pretoria (580km)

Sadly all good things must come to an end. After an early breakfast we make our way back into South Africa and travel through the Orange Free State back to Pretoria again. We trust that you will take home tons of memories and beautiful photoghraphs of this riders paradise. (B)

Day 8: End of Tour
Transfers will be arranged to the airport. We also offer exciting Add on tours and safaris for those that would like to extend their time in Africa.

The tour consists of tar twisties (70%) and adventurous dirt (30%) routes with a river crossing and some short steep sections that qualify as an orange grading. There will be willing hands to assist negotiate those sections, we will also offer the Sani Pass, down & back up as an optional ride. (Advance riders only!)
