14 Days of riding pleasure through South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho
This exciting motorcycle tour focuses on riding the best roads in Southern Africa. We twist our way through spectacular mountain passes, traverse spectacular Kingdoms and ride our way through African Savannah, stopping only to take in the sights, view wildlife and learn more about ancient Cultures.

Day 0: Arrive in South Africa
Welcome to South Africa. You can arrive at any time on “day 0” as you motorcycle tour only officially starts on “day 01”. Tonight’s accommodation is included as “Your bonus night”. A friendly Sama Tours representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Pretoria.
Day 1: Day Tour of Pretoria and Big 5 Safari Dinokeng (+-75km)
Highlights: Day Tour of Pretoria, Big 5 Safari
This morning we will hand over your motorcycle to you and sign all the paperwork. After that is complete we will have a tour briefing and then the fun begins. We start off by taking a tour of the Voortrekker monument to learn some history about South Africa. This is followed by lunch in a small township just North of Pretoria to experience all the vibrant colors, sounds and tastes of Africa. Afterwards we enjoy ride into Dinokeng BIG 5 nature reserve. (Look out for Rhinos, giraffes, impala’s and wildebeest!) As the sun sets we will enjoy our first Big 5 Game Drive in a Safari Vehicle. Tonight we have a welcome dinner in an African Boma. Riding into Dinokeng
Day 2: Pretoria to Magoebaskloof (+-350km)
Highlights: Scenic mountain passes, Magoebaskloof
Today we make our way up North into the wild Limpopo province. As we head up north, the roads become mountainous with beautiful views of the rolling hills below.. We enjoy the great twisties and arrive in Magoebaskloof in the late afternoon. Our hotel has breathtaking views of the valley below. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Magoebaskloof- Panorama route – Hazyview (+- 270km)
Highlights: God’s Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, The Three Rondavels, Waterfalls, Magical Views Sites
Today we make our way down into Mpumalanga (an area known to Local Bikers as “Motorcycle Paradise”) the roads here are beautiful and curvy, and there are so many great viewpoints, rock formations, and waterfalls along the way. The route includes stops at Bourkes Luck Potholes, The Three Rondavels, and God’s Window. All these view points form part of the Blyde River Canyon- The largest green canyon in the world. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Half Day Safari- Kruger National Park (+-50km)
Highlights: Safari, African wildlife
Today we swop 2 wheels for 4 and board a game-viewing Safari vehicle which will transport us into the Kruger National Park. This world-famous wildlife reserve is home to the BIG 5 and is roughly the size of a small country. The vastness of the park allows ample opportunity to view wild animals in their natural habitat. We have a full morning to spot lions, elephants, birds, and many different species of animals. In the afternoon, you will be returned to your hotel in Hazyview where we can relax around the pool or take part in any of the optional activities in the area. There is an Optional 215 km Twisty Ride that will take you over the Famous Long Tom Pass and to the Gold Mining Town of Pilgrims Rest (B,D)

Day 5: Hazyview to Eswatini (+-280km)
Highlights: Kingdom of Swaziland
Today we ride down south into the Mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland (Now called Eswatini), Kids wave and smile as we ride on by, so excited to see the motorcycles. We enjoy twisting mountain roads which take us down past Magugaga Dam into Ezulwini Valley- The Valley of Heaven. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Swaziland to St Lucia (+-350km)
Highlights: Relaxing drive through African Countryside
Today we make our way through Swaziland to South Africa’s Zulu Kingdom, the homeland of the proud Zulu nation. In the late afternoon, we arrive in St. Lucia, a world-renowned natural heritage site, with its beautiful secluded beaches, hippos, crocs, whales, endangered turtles, and other wildlife, our home for the next two nights. This afternoon we embark on an exciting sunset river cruise where we see hippos, crocodiles, and other estuary wildlife. Tonight you can explore the many restaurants, pubs, and cocktail bars that St Lucia has to offer. (B,L,D)

Day 7: St. Lucia Rest Day (+- 0-50 km)
Highlights: Hluhluwe Safari and Hippo Croc Cruise
Today is dedicated to experiencing African Wildlife! We start the day with an early morning safari into Hluhluwe Umfolozi National Park- this park is home to the Big 5 and is the oldest National Park in South Africa and one of the most scenically beautiful landscapes in South Africa. In the late afternoon, we also enjoy a Lake Cruise to see hippos and crocodiles while enjoying an ice-cold drink. Bliss! (B, D)

Day 08 Kwazulu Natal Battlefields (+- 290km)
Highlights: Tour of the Anglo Zulu Battlefields
Today we make our way to the battlefields of the powerful Zulu Nation. Our Lodge for tonight is off the beaten track in rural South Africa. En route, we enjoy about 40km of good gravel roads, and arrive in time for lunch. This afternoon there is an optional tour of Isandlwana Battlefield with a local guide who makes the battlefields come alive as he shares his local knowledge with you (B,D)

Day 9: Battlefields to Underberg(+-330 km)
Highlights: Drakensberg, Golden Gate National Park, Clarens
Today we enjoy more great riding as we reach the Drakensburg Mountains. We can choose to either take the tar or the Gravel road which will lead us through the mountains to Underberg as the foot of the might Lesotho Kingdom. We check into our boutique hotel where we will be based for the next 2 Nights (B)

Day 10: Rest Day and 4 x 4 Tour up Sani Pass (0-100 km)
Highlights: Lesotho and Sani Pass
Today we enjoy a guided 4 x4 tour up Sani Pass into the Mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho. Sani Pass is one of the most famous offroad mountain passes in Southern Africa. Made up of super steep gravel switch backs which are rocky and rutty- This road rises from 1500m to 3000m in just under 7km! If you are a very experienced Adventure Rider then you can ride your Motorcycle Up (at your own risk) but the rest of the group will take the 4 x4 Tour up. Once at the top of the Pass- we enter Lesotho and enjoy a tour of a local Basotho Village followed by a meal (and drink) at the highest pub in Africa, before we make our way down to Underberg again (B,L,D)

Day 11: Underberg to Clarens 390km
Highlights: Golden Gate National Park
After Breakfast we are on the road again, making our way to Clarens, just outside of Lesotho. En-route we stop off at some tourist attractions with lots of photo opportunities. As we pass through the Drakensberg Mountain range, you will notice how diverse South Africa’s landscape is. The roads along this stretch are very enjoyable! In the afternoon we will arrive at Golden Gate National Park. The Golden Sandstone cliffs in this park are remarkable and the beautiful road twisitng through, will leave you breathless. Tonight we sleep in Clarens, a beautiful little town, hidden in the mountains. (B,L,D)

Day 12: Clarens -Lesotho- Clarens (+-400 km)
Highlights: Riding the Alps of Africa, Katse Dam
Today we ride the ALPS OF AFRICA! After an early start, we enter the Lesotho border and make our way towards Katze Dam (a huge man-made dam that forms part of the Highlands water project which supplies water to South Africa! The road to the dam has more turns within 80km than any other road in Africa. A motorcycle riders’ dream. The condition of the road is excellent with very little traffic. The Katze Dam is truly eye-opening! After lunch, we return along the same road arriving back at the hotel in the late afternoon. (B,D))
Riding Lesotho- The Alps of Africa
Day 13: Clarens to Pretoria (+-400 km)
Highlights: Relaxing ride through the Countryside
Time to head back to Pretoria. After breakfast, we start the journey back! It is a nice ride through the interior of South Africa. The bikes will be returned in the late afternoon and in the evening we will have a get-together where everybody can reminisce about the previous day’s riding. (B,L,D)
Day 14: End of tour
Sadly your tour of South Africa has come to an end. We guarantee that you will take home loads of awesome photographs and fond memories of South Africa the warm people you have met. Transfers will be arranged to the airport. You ay wish to extend your motorcycle tour with one of our Add on Tours. Spend a few days in beautiful Cape Town, fly to Victoria Falls or enjoy a 3 Night Safari into Kruger National Park. (B)

All prices are quoted per motorcycle based on riding 1 up and sharing accommodation. If you would like to bring a passenger add the “Pillion price” to the base price OR if you would like your own room, add the “Single Supplement price” to the base price to get your total.
