On this adventure, you will enjoy incredible wildlife safaris in Chobe and Etosha National Park, cruise down the mighty Zambezi River, explore the Okavango Delta by Mokorokoro (African Canoe), view the amazing Victoria Falls, climb the enormous sand dunes of Swakopmund and ride around the 3rd largest Canyon in the world (Fish River Canyon). You will also get to ride the world-famous garden route to Oudtshoorn and over Swartberg Pass. The tour ends on a high note with a triumphant ride down to the Southern Most Point of Africa- Cape Agulhas and riding beautiful coastal roads all the way into Cape Town. Along the way, you will visit the starkly beautiful Kalahari Desert, stop to view elephants right off the main roads, and meet some of the friendly locals along the way.

Day 0: Arrive in South Africa

Welcome to South Africa. You will be met at the Johannesburg International Airport by a Sama representative who will transfer you to your Pretoria Lodge, where you can relax and unwind after your long flight. For those of you arriving early, there are lots of optional activities in and around Pretoria- for example you can do a City tour, Lion and Rhino Park tour, Soweto Tour or enjoy a massage at an African Spa. Your hotel is in walking distance of shops, restaurants and cocktail bars.

Day 1: Pretoria to Tuli Block, Botswana (+-450km)
Highlights: Lodge on the banks of the Limpopo River

Today you leave Pretoria and make your way northwards through the wild province of Limpopo to the Botswana border. The more North you travel in South Africa- the wilder the landscape becomes. Your lodge for the night is just after the Botswana border, on the Limpopo River (Full of Crocodiles and Hippos). Tonight you can have dinner in the beautiful boma surrounded by African bush. Fall asleep listening to the great sounds of the African night- Lions roaring in the distance…. (B)

Day 2: Tuli Block to Makgadigadi Pans ( +- 452km)
Highlights: The Makgadigadi Pans- Largest Salt pans in the World

Today your ride up through Botswana towards Nata. Nata is on the outskirts of the Makgadigadi Pans largest salt complex in the world. This afternoon you are transported to the Makgadigadi Pans in a Safari Vehicle for a 3-hour trip- that will consist of driving through the pans and learning about the history of the area. (B)

Day 3: Makgadigadi Pans to Chobe (+-330km)
Highlights: Afternoon Safari into Chobe National Park

In Botswana there are no fences and wildlife roams free. On today’s stretch of riding it is very common to see Elephants grazing on the side of the road. Your ride will take you up North to Chobe National Park, right on the border of Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Chobe is a river paradise! Your accommodation for the evening is right on the river and 5km from the world famous Chobe Game Reserve. This afternoon you are booked onto a boat cruise on the Chobe river- look out for the BIG 5! Day 4: Chobe to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (+-80km)
Highlights: Victoria Falls- “The smoke that thunders!”

After an early morning Safari into Chobe National Park, you make your way to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. You will arrive in the early afternoon. This waterfall is not the highest or the widest in the world, but it is the largest sheet of falling water, and the sheer volume of falling water will blow you away. During your stay, we have included a Helicopter flight over the falls. They call this: “The flight of Angels” and seeing Victoria Falls from the air is the best angle to truly appreciate its magnificence (B)

Day 5: Victoria Falls Rest Day (0-50km)
Highlights: Victoria Falls

You have the whole morning free to enjoy all the activities that Victoria Falls has on offer. You may wish to do a guided tour of the falls, canoe down the Zambezi River, visit an elephant sanctuary, bungee jump, or enjoy adrenaline-fueled river rafting. There are also tours available where you can swim either above or below the tumbling waters of the falls! Otherwise, you may wish to just grab a drink at the pool, book a spa treatment, and just relax in the beautiful hotel grounds. Later this afternoon we will take a transfer back to Chobe in Botswana. (B)

Day 6: Victoria Falls to Okavango Delta ( +- 520 km)
Highlights: Caprivi Strip, Okavango Delta

Today you make your way into Namibia. The border crossing between Zambia and Namibia is a breeze- as you enter Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, a long narrow strip at the top of the country. As you ride along this beautiful road you will be able to view African homesteads and lush African bush. Here life is simple and sweet. Your lodge for the next two nights is situated on the Okavango River right on the panhandle of the delta. The area is a paradise of flooded plains and swamps, teeming with wildlife. Relax on the deck overlooking the river and enjoy an unforgettable African Sunset while being serenaded by Hippos and African Fish Eagles. (B)

Day 7: Okavango Delta Rest Day (+- 0-50 km)
Highlights: Optional Okavango panhandle trip

You have the entire day free to relax and enjoy the beautiful river setting. You are also booked onto an Okavango canoe trip-where you get into a Mokorokoro (African Canoe) and make your way down the Okavango river in search of hippos, crocodiles and elephants- with a bit of help from a local guide/poler who expertly navigates the waterways- a major highlight of the trip! (B)

Day 8: Okavango Delta to Etosha National Park (+- 550 km)
Highlights: Rural Namibia, Etosha National Park

Today is a lovely ride through the Namibian countryside- watch out for elephants and other wildlife! In the late afternoon you will arrive at Etosha National Park- This national Park is based around a large salt pan. It is a dessert full of salt, but the wildlife still flourishes despite the harsh conditions and the park is world renowned for its amazing game viewing opportunities.  (B)

Day 9: Safari into Etosha Pans, thenr ide to Gabus Game Lodge  (150 km)
Highlights: Etosha Pans Safari

Today you swap your motorcycle for a 4 wheel drive safari vehicle and make your way into the Etosha pan game reserve for a half-day Safari (Included in the tour price). Unlike many other game reserves where you can spend long days looking for animals without any success, this game reserve is famous for its plentiful sightings of wildlife. The Etosha pan makes for a well-deserved oasis in the middle of the desert and animals flock to the water. On return to your lodge enjoy a leisurely lunch before packing up and riding 150km to Gabus Game Lodge- a family run safari destination(B)

Day 10: Etosha to Swakopmund (+- 450 km)
Highlights: Golden sand dunes of Namibia

After a delicious breakfast, you make your way down through Namibia, watching in amazement as the semi-arid desert, becomes fully arid desert and then transforms into full-blown sand dunes towering into the horizon. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Swakopmund a coastal town famous for its great waves, beautiful sand dunes and German hospitality- your home for the next two nights… (B)

Day 11: Rest day Swakopmund (0-50km)
Highlights: Skelton Coast, Sand boarding, quad biking and many other optional activities

Swakopmund is based at the tip of the world famous Skeleton Coast. It is the adventure capital of Namibia. Here you can skydive, sand board, microlight, or quad bike- the options are endless. If you are looking for more of a relaxing time than you can enjoy the beach, or explore the wonderful German culture of the town. There are also seal tours, deep sea fishing excursions and hot air balloon rides over the spectacular desert landscape!

Day 12: Swakopmund to Lake Oanob (+- 450 km)
Highlights: Private game reserve, Lake Oanob

Riding down through Namibia- you make your way to Lake Oanob just past Rehobooth. Your Lodge for the evening is built on the banks of the very scenic Oanob Dam. Majestic mountains are set on fire by spectacular sunsets. From your patio you can see the reflections of the moon and stars on the lake. 6 200 ha of unspoiled nature provides the perfect haven for an abundance of free roaming game. Relax and unwind in this beautiful setting. (B)

Day 13: Lake Oanob to Fish River Canyon +- 570 km
Highlights: Fish River Canyon

Today you make your way to Africa’s largest canyon- “The Fish River Canyon” The canyon is 160km long and up to 27 km wide and 550m deep in some places. The views over this canyon will take your breath away! Tonight we sleep in the desert at a beautiful lodge designed around natural boulder formations. Welcome to the wild west! (B)

Day 14: Fish River Canyon Rest Day (0-100 km)
Highlights: Fish River Canyon, Canyon Lodge, Desert Oasis

Today you have a rest day here to enjoy the beautiful Namibian Desert.Your Lodge is situated in the Godwana Canyon National Park – with over 1120km of the national park to be explored. Enjoy Yellow Flowers, Quiver trees, Springbok, Gemsbok, Hartebeest, Ostrich, and Mountain Zebra sightings. Optional Activities include walks, 4×4 drives, and horse rides through this magical landscape. The Fish River Canyon is only 20km away and we highly recommend riding your bike to the viewsite. At sunset walk to the top of the boulders surrounding the the lodge and enjoy an unforgettable sunset at the bar hidden in the rocks. (B)

Day 15: Fish River Canyon to Springbok (+- 300 km)
Highlights: Magical Namaqualand, Star Gazing

Time to head back into South Africa and make your way down through Namaqualand- an area made famous by its wild flowers that bloom into a whirlwind of color during the springtime each year! Springbok is known for its peace and tranquility- tonight we will be staying at a Lodge- where you are guaranteed to “Find the magic in Namaqualand….” Because Springbok is literally in the middle of nowhere, the stargazing is phenomenal, so relax and enjoy the constellations! (B)

Day 16: Springbok to Citrusdal (+- 392 km)
Highlights: Hot water springs, riding the Northern Cape

Today you make your way through the Northern Cape to the lush green farm valleys of Citrusdal. Tonight we sleep at a famous hot water spring resort situated on a citrus farm. Relax your “motorcycle riding muscles” in one of the hot water pools or mineral baths on the property that are filled by hot water springs with a temperature of 43 Degrees Celsius… Bliss! (B)

Day 17: Citrusdal to Oudtshoorn (+- 500 km)
Highlights: Route 62, back roads of the Garden Route

Today you make your way to Oudtshoorn- the Ostrich Capital of South Africa- it is a scenic ride through the beautiful mountains and valleys of the western Cape. We travel along Route 62, through gorgeous little villages such as Ceres, Montagu and Worcester. (B)

Day 18: Rest Day Oudtshoorn (0 -100km)
Highlights: Optional Dirt Ride, Cango Caves, Ostrich Farms, Karroo Hospitality

Today you have a rest day in Oudtshoorn to enjoy all the exciting activities and rides in the area. For those that like dirt- there is an exciting dirt route that will take you up and over Swartberg Pass to Albert and then along Meiringspoort Pass back to Oudtshoorn again. Otherwise, Oudtshoorn is a great place to relax and perhaps visit an ostrich farm or explore the Cango Caves on a cave tour. (B)

Day 19: Oudtshoorn to Hermanus via Cape Agulhas (+- 500 km)
Highlights: Southern Most Tip of Africa

Today you explore more of the the world-famous garden route as you make your way way from Oudtshoorn over the Outeniqua pass to George and then carry on to the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas. This is the point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. There is always a party at Cape Agulhas, as you celebrate reaching the most southern point of Africa- with great photo opportunities at the Southernmost tip. From here you make your way to Hermanus which is famous for land based whale watching. (B)

Day 20 : Hermanus- Cape Point- Cape Town (+- 270 km)
Highlights: Penguins, Cape Point, Chapman’s peak drive, Table Mountain

Today you make your way to Cape Town, South Africa’s Mother City. This ride is a major highlight of the trip as there are beautiful coastal views with twisting roads cut into the sea cliffs virtually all the way. Today you will get to visit penguins living on the beach in Bettys Bay as well the Navy harbour at Simonstown and the Cape of Good Home National Park where you ride to Cape Point- the most South-westerly point of Africa (with views of the Cape Peninsula). Tonight you sleep in Cape Town- within walking distance of the famous VA waterfront- with world-class restaurants, harbor tours, and breathtaking views of Table Mountain. (B)

Day 21: End of Tour

Sadly your tour of South Africa has come to an end. We guarantee that you will take home loads of awesome photographs and fond memories of Southern Africa and the warm people you have met. Transfers will be arranged to the airport. You may also wish to spend a few extra days in Cape Town- there is so much to see and do. Post tour accommodation tours, and activities can be arranged by SAMA Tours (B)

90% Of this tour takes place on good Tarmac roads, 10% Takes place on good hardpacked Gravel roads. If you are not comfortable on the Gravel, we can plan alternate tar routes for you.
We recommend being bike-fit, However, Rest Days are scheduled regularly.
