Your adventure begins in Cape Town, where you’ll explore the spectacular Cape Point Peninsula, visit the historic naval town of Simon’s Town, and ride some of the world’s most scenic coastal roads with the iconic Table Mountain providing a breathtaking backdrop.

From there, you’ll journey to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, before continuing to the Garden Route Game Lodge. Here you’ll enjoy an unforgettable Big 5 safari and spend the night in luxurious glamping suites surrounded by the African bush.

Your route then leads you back to the Indian Ocean at Knysna, where you’ll admire the famous Knysna Heads before spending the night in the Garden Route National Park. Take time to explore the iconic suspension bridges stretching between dramatic sea cliffs and soak up the beauty of this remarkable coastline.

Next, you’ll enjoy two magical nights at Addo Elephant National Park, giving you plenty of time to head out on safari in search of the park’s famous elephant herds, along with lions, buffalo, rhino and the other incredible wildlife that call this area home.

Leaving the coast behind, you’ll ride the legendary tar and gravel mountain passes that make this region a paradise for adventure motorcyclists as you make your way to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of South Africa. From here you’ll follow the quirky Route 62 through the vast Karoo before spending the night amongst the vineyards and mountains of the beautiful Cape Winelands.

The freedom of a self-guided tour really comes into its own as you ride the stunning hard-packed gravel roads into the remote Cederberg Wilderness Area, where dramatic rock formations, breathtaking scenery and crystal-clear night skies await.

On your final day in the saddle, you’ll over exciting mountains, past fascinating sandstone formations before enjoying one last spectacular ride back to Cape Town, where your 14-day adventure comes to an end.

Day 0 Arrive in South Africa (+-50km)

Highlights: Explore Cape Town

Welcome to South Africa! On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, perfectly located within walking distance of the vibrant V&A Waterfront with spectacular views of Table Mountain. The rest of the day is yours to explore one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Ride the Table Mountain Cableway, visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, stroll through the colourful Bo-Kaap, or simply relax at the waterfront before your motorcycle adventure begins.

Day 1 Cape Town- Cape Point- Elgin River Lodge (+- 200km)
Highlights: Cape Point • Simon’s Town • Cape Peninsula

After collecting your motorcycle and receiving a comprehensive route briefing, it’s time to hit the road. Your first day takes you on one of the world’s great coastal rides as you explore the spectacular Cape Peninsula. Ride the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, visit the colourful Bo-Kaap, take in the views from Signal Hill, stand at the iconic Cape Point, and wander through the historic naval town of Simon’s Town before finishing the day in the beautiful Elgin Valley. Day 2 Elgin to  Cape Agulhas (+- 250km)
Highlights: The Southern Most Tip of Africa

Today’s ride follows the beautiful coastline of the Cape Overberg. Visit the African Penguin colony at Betty’s Bay, keep an eye out for whales along the cliffs of Hermanus (seasonal), and continue to Cape Agulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet at the southernmost tip of Africa. Be sure to capture the obligatory photograph at the famous monument before enjoying fresh local seafood and a relaxing evening by the ocean. (B)

Day 3 Cape Agulhas to Garden Route Game Lodge (+-320km)
Highlights: Malgas Ferry, Big 5 Safari

Leave the coast behind as today’s route combines scenic back roads with enjoyable hard-packed gravel through the Overberg. Cross the Breede River on the historic Malgas Ferry—the last remaining hand-operated ferry in South Africa—before arriving at the Garden Route Game Lodge*. This afternoon, swap two wheels for four as you head out on your first unforgettable Big 5 safari in search of elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and countless other African wildlife. (B,D)

Day 4: Garden Route Game Lodge -Knysna- Storms River (260km)
Highlights: Safari, Knysna Heads, Storms River Mouth

An early morning safari offers another opportunity to experience Africa’s incredible wildlife before breakfast and a spectacular day of riding. Travel along the famous Seven Passes Road (weather permitting), visit the dramatic Knysna Heads overlooking the lagoon, and stop at the Bloukrans Bridge, home to the world’s highest commercial bungee jump. Your day ends with a visit to Storms River Mouth, to see or walk along the famous suspension bridges, before checking in to our Ocean front Accommodation.(B)

Day 5: Storms River Mouth to Addo Elephant Park (223km)
Highlights: Addo Elephant Park

Enjoy a relaxed morning exploring Storms River Mouth, with the option of kayaking or taking a boat trip into the spectacular gorge before continuing your ride east. Stop for lunch in the surfing town of Jeffreys Bay before heading inland to Addo Elephant National Park, where you’ll settle in for a two-night stay surrounded by one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations.(B)

Day 6: Rest Day Addo Elephant Park (0-50km)
Highlights: Big 5 Safari and BUSH Braai (BBQ)

Today, leave the motorcycle behind and experience Addo from the comfort of a specialised safari vehicle. Famous for its enormous elephant population, Addo is also home to lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard and an incredible variety of wildlife. Enjoy a Morning Safari into Addo where the bush comes alive. You will  be returned to your lodge where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch around the pool. In teh late Afternoon you will once again be picked up for another unfrogettable Safari- This time you head into Schotia Private Game Reserve where you will get a chance to spot Nocturnal Animals before enjoying Dinner around a ROARING fire. Schotia is famous for its up close sightings of the LION- King of the Beasts! (B,D)

Day 7: Addo to Oudtshoorn (410km)
Highlights: The Ostrich Capital of South Africa

Turning west once again, today’s ride takes you through ever-changing landscapes as you leave the Eastern Cape behind and head into the semi-arid beauty of the Klein Karoo. Your destination is Oudtshoorn, South Africa’s ostrich capital, where you’ll spend the next two nights .(B)

Day 8: Oudtshoorn rest day and optional ride (70-170km)
Highlights: Ostriches, Cango Caves and Swartberg Pass

Today is yours to enjoy. Relax at the lodge or head out on one of the finest rides in South Africa, taking in the spectacular Swartberg Pass, the fascinating Cango Caves and the famous ostrich farms that have made this region world-renowned. Return to the lodge in the afternoon. Tonight you will have the opportunity to Sample the Ostrich Steaks that this region is famous for! (B)

Day 9: Oudtshoorn to Montagu via Route 62 (260km)
Highlights: Quirky Route 62

Today’s journey follows the legendary Route 62, South Africa’s answer to America’s Route 66. Wind through the dramatic Karoo landscape, discover quirky roadside attractions, tackle beautiful mountain passes on tar and gravel, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of one of the country’s most iconic touring roads before arriving in the charming town of Montagu (B)

Day 10: Montagu to Frasnchoek in the Cape Winelands (160km)
Highlights: Mountains, Vineyards, Wine and culinary delights

Today’s ride showcases some of the Western Cape’s most beautiful mountain scenery as you leave the Little Karoo behind and enter the famous Cape Winelands. Enjoy quiet country roads, spectacular mountain passes and a leisurely lunch before riding over the breathtaking Franschhoek Pass into one of South Africa’s most picturesque towns, surrounded by vineyards and towering peaks.(B)

Day 11: Rest Day Franschoek in the Cape Winelands (0-50km)
Highlights: Mountains, Vineyards, Wine and culinary delights

Spend the day however you choose. Hop aboard the famous Wine Tram to visit award-winning wine estates, enjoy wine, cheese and chocolate tastings, browse the boutique shops, or simply relax in one of South Africa’s finest food and wine destinations. If you’re eager for more riding, we’ve included an optional scenic loop through some of the region’s best mountain roads. (B,D)

A day off the bikes to relax

Day 12: Franchoek to Cederberg (240km- 110km of Good Gravel)
Highlights: Cederberg Wilderness

Today’s ride is a favourite amongst adventure riders as you leave the vineyards behind and head into the rugged beauty of the Cederberg Mountains. Enjoy excellent hard-packed gravel roads, stop for lunch at the legendary Tankwa Padstal, and continue to your remote wilderness lodge where you’ll enjoy dinner beneath spectacular star-filled skies in one of South Africa’s most beautiful and unspoilt regions (B,L,D)

Day 13: Cederberg to Cape Town (320km)
Highlights: Algeria, Pakhuis Pass, Clanwilliam, Durbanville Hills

Your final day in the saddle is one to remember. Ride the spectacular Algeria and Pakhuis Passes, and enjoy lunch in the historic town of Clanwilliam before returning to Cape Town. This evening, celebrate an unforgettable two-week adventure with a farewell dinner at one of the city’s outstanding restaurants. (B,L,D)

Day 14: End of Tour

Sadly, your South African motorcycle adventure comes to an end today. Airport transfers will be arranged, although we highly recommend extending your stay in Cape Town to enjoy more of everything this incredible city has to offer—from Table Mountain and Robben Island to world-class wine estates and beautiful beaches.
